stackof20 privacy policy

Our approach
stackof20 is a product of BACS Tech, Inc., created by David Marcantonio to help you organize your inbox in small, enjoyable bursts. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to BACS Tech, Inc. We do not receive, store on developer-operated servers, sell, or inspect your inbox or reply content. The app has no advertising, analytics, tracking SDKs, or developer-operated mail service. You do not create a stackof20 account.
Access to Apple Mail
With your permission, stackof20 reads account and mailbox information, senders, subjects, message text, and message identifiers from Apple Mail on your Mac to display and organize the stack you choose. The app must process this information locally to work; it does not send it to us. Trash, Move, and Reply & Archive change mail through Apple Mail when you choose those actions. Snooze records when a message should return to the app.
What stays on your Mac
stackof20 stores settings, mailbox mappings, snooze records, and stack progress locally. Opening a reply creates a saved local draft containing the original message, recipient addresses, subject, reply text, and send-status records. Files you attach are copied into the app’s local storage. These copies support draft recovery and help prevent duplicate sends after interruption. The app does not maintain a separate persistent copy of your whole inbox.
Local retention
Saved replies and attachment copies stay on your Mac. They are not sent to BACS Tech, Inc.
Saved drafts, completed reply content, quoted original email text, and attachment copies stay on your Mac until you choose to clear eligible data in Settings → Clear Saved Reply Data.
Cleanup permanently removes closed, editable unsent drafts, completed reply content, and their attachment copies, plus unused attachment-copy folders. It does not delete the original files you selected, messages in Apple Mail, settings, snoozes, or iCloud data.
Replies you still have open, replies awaiting send confirmation, and replies whose original message still needs to be archived are kept on your Mac so you can finish them. Close an editable composer or resolve a pending reply using Saved Replies before trying cleanup again.
A small completion record stays only on your Mac for each cleared completed reply. We do not receive it. The record consists of: an opaque message-key filename and a completed flag, with no addresses, subject, message text, or attachment names. These markers prevent the same completed reply from becoming sendable again after cleanup.
Removing an attachment from a draft deselects it; unused copies can be removed through cleanup. Unrecognized stored items are preserved; damaged records block cleanup rather than being discarded.
Cleanup cannot erase existing device backups or copies already held by Mail or your provider. Removing the application alone may leave local app data behind. Your Mac’s account permissions and device protections apply; stackof20 does not add a separate password or promise end-to-end encryption for these files.
Optional iCloud Sync
iCloud Sync is off by default. If you enable it, stackof20 uses your private CloudKit database to sync batch size, snooze settings and times, mailbox mappings, message identifiers, and remaining-stack progress. Sync records also contain a hashed mail-account identifier, timestamps, and revision identifiers. Message identifiers and mailbox paths can contain personal information; hashing an account identifier does not make all synced metadata anonymous. Email bodies, reply drafts, attachment files, contacts, and mail passwords are excluded from this app sync. Apple operates iCloud. Private CloudKit records are not visible to us through Apple’s developer portal.
Turning sync off and managing data
Turn off iCloud Sync in stackof20 settings to stop further app sync work; an already submitted request may finish. Turning sync off does not delete existing local or iCloud data. Uninstalling stackof20 does not automatically delete its iCloud records. You can manage app storage through the controls Apple provides for your iCloud account; this version does not include an in-app cloud-erasure command. Keeping sync enabled on another Mac can recreate stored state. Contact support for guidance before removing recovery records, especially if a send is still awaiting confirmation.
Replies and your mail provider
When you send a reply, its text, recipient addresses, and selected attachments go to the recipients through Apple Mail and your configured mail provider. Moving or trashing mail may also update your provider’s servers. Your provider handles your mail account and credentials; stackof20 does not ask for or store your mail password. Apple and your mail providers operate under their own privacy policies.
Optional Contacts and file access
Contacts permission is optional. If allowed, stackof20 searches contact names and email addresses on your Mac to suggest recipients. It does not upload your address book to us or to its CloudKit database. Addresses you choose become part of your local draft and are sent when you send the reply. You can type addresses without Contacts access. Files are accessed when you choose them in the file picker. Revoke Contacts or Mail Automation access in System Settings → Privacy & Security; doing so does not erase already saved drafts.
Support and system services
If you choose to contact support, the information you send will be received for the purpose of answering your request. Do not include private email content, attachments, or passwords. The app does not automatically send us logs or diagnostics. Apple may process App Store transactions, system diagnostics, and iCloud service information under its own settings and policies; stackof20 does not add its own telemetry service.
This website
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub processes technical request information such as IP addresses to deliver and secure hosted pages, under its privacy policy. We do not add visitor analytics, advertising, tracking cookies, or a mailing-list form. The main site hosts its font files itself. Visiting the site does not give it access to your mail or the app’s private iCloud database.
Changes and contact
We will update this policy if the app’s data practices change. For privacy questions, support, or data-management guidance, email hello@stackof20.com. Please do not send private email content, attachments, or passwords.
